In conjunction with the holy month of Ramadhan, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) and its departments and divisions held a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony at the ministry's surau yesterday.

The guest of honour at the event was the Minister of Finance II at the Prime Minister's Office, Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awg Hj Abdul Rahman bin Hj Ibrahim.
Also present were Dato Paduka Awg Hj Bahrin bin Abdullah, the Deputy Minister of Finance; Permanent Secretaries and Deputy Permanent Secretaries at the Ministry of Finance; the Managing Director of Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam (AMBD); heads of departments and divisions; as well as other officers and members of staff at the Ministry of Finance and its departments and divisions.

The Khatam Al-Quran ceremony and the tahlil recitation were led by Imam Hj Mohd Burhanuddin bin Hj Damit, Imam of Kampong Pulaie Mosque.

The event continued with the breaking of fast and mass Maghrib prayers. Meanwhile, the Dikir Marhaban presentation was also partaken by officers and staff of the Royal Customs and Excise Department.

Prior to the Khatam Al-Quran ceremony, the Ministry of Finance had held Tedarus activities in three selected mosques, namely the Kampong Pelambayan Mosque, Kg Beribi Mosque and Kg Mata-Mata Mosque, where several waqaf contributions were made by officers and staff of the ministry and its departments and divisions.

The Tedarus event and the Khatam Al-Quran ceremony for the Ministry of Finance and its departments and divisions this year was organised by the Royal Customs and Excise Department. The events were part of the ministry's annual religious activities aimed at fostering closer ties between the working staff and the mosque congregants, including village residents, in together further enlivening and glorifying the holy month of Ramadhan
