Bandar Seri Begawan - The Ministry of Finance last night held its Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration, which saw the Minister of Finance II at the Prime Minister's Office, Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awg Hj Abdul Rahman bin Hj Ibrahim as the event's guest of honour.

Also in attendance were permanent secretaries, deputy permanent secretary, directors, section heads as well as officers and staff from the ministry its departments and the Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam (AMDB).

According to a press release, last nights event was held not only to celebrate Raya but also to further strengthen the ties between officers and staff members from the ministry and its departments.

The proceedings also saw the minister presenting tokens of appreciation to officers and staff members who retired this year.

The minister, along with other special guests, then proceeded to meet with and visit different personnel from departments under the ministry at their respective stalls and exhibitions, all of which were elaborate displays showcasing different cultures; namely the Malay, Chinese, Indian, Korean, Arabian, Japanese and the Western cultures.

In his welcoming remarks at the event, Hj Zakaria bin Hj Serudin, the Acting Accountant General, said: "Preparations for this year's celebrations have involved the officers and staff of all departments, with each giving their full cooperation in terms of contributing their ideas, energy money and prizes for the lucky draw."
He also mentioned the retired officers and staff who have received tokens of appreciation last night, saying, "As a way of appreciating their services and contributions in their time working under this ministry, these officers and staff will be given souvenirs to remember the services."

The attendees yesterday were also entertained with stage activities and song performances by officers and staff from the ministry and its departments.
