THANKSGIVING ceremonies in marking the celebration of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's 67th birthday continued yesterday with a round of religious events by government departments.

Another thanksgiving ceremony was conducted by the Ministry of Finance and departments under it to pray for the monarch in conjunction with the leader's 67th birthday.


The ceremony which took place at the Surau of the Ministry of Finance, Island Block, Third Floor of the ministry was attended by the Second Minister of Finance at the Prime Minister's Office Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Hj Abd Rahman Hj Ibrahim.

The ceremony began with a congregation mass Zuhur prayer and Sunat Hajat prayer. The event proceeded with recitals of Surah Yaasin, Tahlil and Doa Kesyukuran (thanksgiving) which was led by Pg Hj Hafizuddin Pg Hj Bakar, an officer from the Mosque Affairs Department.

Also present at the event was Dato Paduka Hj Bahrin Abdullah, the Deputy Minister of Finance, permanent secretaries, deputy permanent secretaries, head of departments as well as the officers and personnel of the ministry.

With His Majesty's anniversary coincides with Ramadhan, the main event and subsequent festivities are toned down to respect the holy month. The celebration are expected to commence on September 15, with the guard of honour and march past, the audience and investiture ceremony, and the royal birthday banquet.
