Revenue Roadshow To Be Held In Belait District

FOLLOWING the successful organisation of its first roadshow, the Revenue Division and Registrar of Companies and Business Names, under the Ministry of Finance, will be bringing this event to the Belait district on May 29.

The roadshow will be held at the Pusat Persidangan Kuala Belait from 9am to 4pm.

According to Maswadi Haji Mohsin, acting director of the revenue division, Kuala Belait (KB) is important as it’s home to the second largest business community in Brunei.

"After the first roadshow, more companies signed up for STARS (System for Tax Administration and Revenue Services) but these activities will not end after this KB roadshow," said Maswadi.

He added that there are continuous efforts made to ensure tax payers will be actively using STARS.

The KB roadshow will also feature discussions on taxation, accountancy and business registration, and a presentation on a locally developed accounting programme. The Department of Economic Planning and Development and the Employees Trust Fund will also give presentations.

Other roadshow partners include the Brunei Darussalam Deposit Protection Corporation, BAG Networks Sdn Bhd, auditing firms and the Cosmopolitan College of Commerce Technology.

The acting director said that the upcoming roadshow is not only targeting the public and companies around the Belait district but also companies who missed the first roadshow held last week at the Airport Mall.

Maswadi said the turnout for the first roadshow was "better than expected" especially during the forum on tax filing. He said most visitors in the first roadshow were unaware of Brunei's business registration and tax system.

He added that the mini job fair that was held simultaneously during the roadshow also showed promising response.

"Most job vacancies received encouraging response from job seekers who visited the company booths," he said.
