Tutong, Thursday 29 October 2015.  The Ministry of Finance held a briefing session on online Companies and Business Names registration, and Record Keeping (Business) Order, 2015, at the Dewan Utama, Tutong Civic Centre. 

 The guest of honour was YM Awang Wardi bin Haji Mohammad Ali, the Tutong District Officer. The session was also attended by Yang Berhormat Orang Kaya Jaya Putera Dato Paduka Awang Haji Mohd Taha bin Abd Rauf, member of the Legislative Council, members of the public, local business owners as well as government officials in Tutong District.

The briefing is part of the Ministry’s outreach programme on the following initiatives :

  • Registry of Companies and Business Names Division on the online registration system which is quick, simple and easily accessible, hence facilitates the process of starting a business.

Representing the registry was YM Lim Sei Kee who emphasized on understanding the difference between business entities such as Sole Proprietorship, Partnership (Business Names) and Companies before registering/incorporating online. This would help inform the public about the different sets of requirements, liabilities and regulations that applies for each of the business entities mentioned.  

  • Revenue Division requires for all businesses in Brunei Darussalam to practise good record keeping in line with the Record Keeping (Business) Order, 2015. Keeping proper business records helps businesses with better financial planning, effective decision makings and thus attracting potential investors.

Representing the Revenue Division was YM Pg Haji Abdul Azim bin Pg Mohd Hassan who highlighted that  record keeping is to be done by the respective company and is to be submitted to the Ministry of Finance upon request.
