ASEAN's first aviation training centre

THE CAE-Brunei Multi-Purpose Training Centre (MPTC) was formed in April 2012 following a joint-venture between the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and a publicly-listed simulation systems manufacturer, CAE Inc which is based in Montreal, Canada.
CAE, established in 1947, is a global leader in modelling, simulation and training for civil aviation, defence and security, and the healthcare markets.
The MPTC is the first training centre in the ASEAN region that provides end-to-end simulation based training services across a range of market segments including defence, aviation, emergency/crisis management, healthcare and potentially other industries. The integrated training facility, located in Rimba began operating in 2014 and is now playing a key role in developing these markets in Brunei.
As one of the region’s largest helicopter simulator training facilities, MPTC provides simulation training for the Sikorsky S-92 and Sikorsky S-70i Black Hawk helicopters and the Pilatus PC-7 trainer aircraft complete with comprehensive classroom and simulator instruction for these platforms. Further expansion plans will include simulation training for military helicopters.
The MPTC customers include local institutions such as the Royal Brunei Air Force and Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd. The MPTC also trains clients from abroad including Australia, China and Thailand.
Currently, the company employs nineteen locals including one executive, seven in the management level and eleven support staff. Local staff are also sent for on-the-job training at CAE training centres in Canada and around the world to gain new technology and knowledge transfer.
In addition, the CAE Brunei MPTC has also established an Emergency and Crisis Management Centre of Excellence that will provide relevant local authorities such as the Ministry of Home Affairs and National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC) with comprehensive training designed to better plan and prepare for emergencies.
Using simulation-based training, the CAE Brunei MPTC is offering emergency and crisis management training programmes that will help improve coordination, response and operational decision-making during a range of emergency scenarios.
The CAE Brunei MPTC plans to offer additional simulation-based training programmes in the future based on market demand and requirements, including training solutions specifically for the energy, aerospace, and healthcare market segments, as well as other segments of defence such as land and naval training solutions.
While serving customers in Brunei and the Southeast Asia region, the CAE Brunei MPTC will help grow the high-technology and knowledge-based industry in Brunei Darussalam and provide high-quality jobs for locals.
